L'Aja Bruciata Vermentino Maremma DOC 0.75L
Vermentino from the Maremma is rarely expressed as clearly and concisely as here: fresh, salty, with the typical crispness of the Tuscan coastal region. The L'Aja Bruciata from Rocca delle Macìe demonstrates what this grape variety can achieve on sandy-loam soils near the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Rocca delle Macìe is one of Tuscany's most renowned wineries, founded in 1973 by Italo Zingarelli and now run by the second generation. Besides their main estate in Chianti Classico, the family cultivates vineyards in the Maremma—a region known for its heat, proximity to the sea, and intensely aromatic white wines. The name L'Aja Bruciata, roughly translated as "burnt threshing floor," directly references this sun-drenched landscape.
In the glass, the wine displays aromas of white peach, citrus peel, and maquis herbs—thyme and a hint of rosemary. The palate is medium-bodied, the acidity lively without harshness, and the finish salty-mineral and pleasantly long. A classic profile for this grape variety.
Best served between 10 and 12 °C . Ideal with grilled fish, seafood, zucchini pasta with bottarga, or a simple seafood salad. Also a good choice as an uncomplicated summer evening wine on its own.
