La Cuvée Mythique
The Vignerons de la Méditerranée have dedicated themselves to preserving a heritage over a thousand years old: viticulture in the Languedoc.
The red grape varieties permitted for this country wine, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache, are also included in La Cuvée Mythique; however, the exact composition remains a secret. Every year, only the best grapes from up to 100-year-old vines from 42 selected individual vineyard sites are chosen to be blended into this exceptional cuvée and then stored for another year in oak barrels.
Since 1991, the wine cooperative Les Vignerons de la Méditerranée has been producing its Cuvée Mythique, the “best wine they can make.” The red wine, which is produced only in limited quantities, has inspired more and more wine lovers and connoisseurs in recent years and is internationally highly acclaimed. Wine critic Robert M. Parker regularly rated past vintages with 87-93 points each, and the British wine magazine DECANTER counts La Cuvée Mythique among the “Top 100 Wines of the World” with the best price/quality ratio.

Not bad, but not good enough
An inconspicuous wine, the taste rather flat and woody. What is completely irritating: the wine smells of nothing at all! We tested it as a group of four and agreed: you can drink it, but you wouldn't order it again.

What does the Cuvée Mythique pair best with?
Lamb and veal are classic companions, but poultry from the grill or a paella also work well. For those who like it simpler: tapas with chorizo or mature Manchego also fit.
At what temperature do I serve the wine?
Best between 16 and 18 °C — i.e., slightly cooler than room temperature. In summer, feel free to put it in the refrigerator 30 minutes before opening.
Is this a wine for now or should I store it?
The 2024 vintage is young, but already well integrated and ready to drink due to the barrel aging. If you like, you can store it for another two to three years — cool, dark, lying down.
What is actually in the cuvée — which grape varieties?
The manufacturer does not disclose the exact composition. The blend can contain Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan — the exact weighting remains deliberately a secret of the wine cooperative.
How much alcohol does the Cuvée Mythique have?
13.5% ABV — for a Southern French red wine from the Languedoc, a solid but not overly heavy value. The bottle holds the standard content of 750 ml.
