Joaquin I Viaggiatori Aglianico IGT 0.75L
Aglianico is one of the great red grape varieties of Southern Italy — dark-fruited, tannin-rich, with an acidity structure that gives the wine backbone. Joaquin's I Viaggiatori hits this character on the head: a dry red wine from Campania that combines the warmth of the south with genuine tension.
The Joaquin winery is one of the dedicated producers in Campania that consistently focuses on indigenous grape varieties like Aglianico. The name I Viaggiatori — the travelers — fits: this wine invites you to explore a region that is still internationally underestimated but works at a high level in terms of vinification.
In the glass, it shows deep ruby red. On the nose, dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of licorice, underneath an earthy, slightly smoky note that is typical for Aglianico. On the palate, present but well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with hints of black pepper and tobacco.
Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised lamb, game ragù over pappardelle, or mature Pecorino. If you have time, you should open the bottle an hour before drinking — that gives the tannins room to unfold.
