Pignacolus

Pignolo is one of the oldest grape varieties in Friuli – and one of the rarest. Jermann brings it out of the place that almost made it forgotten and shows what is in it: a red wine with depth, structure, and a clear commitment to its origin.

The Jermann winery from the Collio Orientale del Friuli has stood for the revival of autochthonous varieties for decades. The Pignacolusse – named after the Pignolo variety (whose grape resembles a pine cone) and the cadastral plot name Colusse – consistently continues this work. The wine is only brought to market three years after the harvest.

In the glass, it appears dark and dense. Dry plum, carob, and leather form the aromatic framework, behind it cocoa and a hint of coffee. On the palate, powerful and firm: plenty of tannin, which, however, does not seem rough, but is supported by the long aging period. Long, spicy finish.

Jermann

Jermann from Friuli is no ordinary winery. It is the life's work of a visionary: Silvio Jermann has turned a family business into one of Italy's most famous addresses – with wines you won't soon forget. On 170 hectares of vineyards in northeastern Italy, wines like the legendary Vintage Tunina or Dreams are created – drops that show what Friuli is really capable of.

Fresh, profound, with an elegance that only unfolds in the glass. What drives Jermann? The dialogue with the landscape. No spectacle, no trend – but the honest craft that is palpable in every sip.
