J. Charpentier Blanc de Blancs Brut

J. Charpentier Blanc de Blancs Brut
A Blanc de Blancs made from pure Chardonnay — that means precision instead of fullness, freshness instead of weight. This champagne from J. Charpentier shows what the grape variety can achieve in Champagne: a clear line, lively acidity, fine foam.
The winery in Villers-sous-Châtillon has been run by the Charpentier family since 1920, now in its fifth generation. Claudine and Jacky Charpentier manage the vineyards together with their children Jean-Marc and Marie-Pierre — everything from cultivation to bottling is in their own hands. This independence allows them to work consistently according to their own stylistic sensibilities, without compromises to external wine cooperatives.
On the nose, white flowers, fresh hazelnut, and a hint of citrus peel. On the palate, it shows a clear acid structure with fine, persistent perlage — not intrusive foam, but creamy mousse with a dry, slightly mineral finish. The herbal notes from the bouquet linger.
A classic aperitif, but also well-positioned with oysters, scallops, or a light goat cheese. Serving temperature: 8–10 °C.
