A Blanc de Blancs from the south of England — single-varietal Chardonnay, with the precision and coolness that the climate of Kent makes possible. Gusbourne Estate is located in the Weald of Kent, near Ashford, on chalk and sand soils that give the wine a distinct mineral base structure.

Gusbourne was founded in 2004 and has since established itself as one of the most convincing addresses for English sparkling wine. The vineyards benefit from one of the warmest and driest microclimates of the British Isles — the basis for Chardonnay grapes with ripe fruit and at the same time lively acidity.

In the glass, the Blanc de Blancs shows aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and green apple, underpinned by a clear chalk note and a hint of brioche. The perlage is fine and lingering, the finish dry and carried by fresh acidity.

Good as an aperitif, but also strong as a companion to oysters, scallops, or ceviche. Serving temperature: 8–10 °C.
