Grattamacco Vermentino Bolgheri DOC

The Grattamacco Vermentino Bolgheri DOC comes from one of Tuscany's most exciting wine regions, where the maritime climate and proximity to the sea lend the wines a unique character. Bolgheri is primarily known for its powerful red wines, but it is precisely here that Vermentino demonstrates the expressiveness, elegance, and terroir this grape variety can possess. Grattamacco captures the typical freshness of Vermentino with remarkable precision, combining it with a subtle saline note that instantly evokes the coast.

The aroma unfolds with notes of citrus peel, white peach, and Mediterranean herbs , accompanied by subtle spice and a clear, vibrant character. On the palate, the wine is present and balanced, with lively acidity, beautiful structure, and a long, slightly bitter finish that lends it character and depth.

Served at 10–12 °C, this Vermentino is a versatile companion for many occasions. It pairs wonderfully with grilled fish, seafood, burrata with tomatoes, or light pasta dishes with lemon and olive oil. It truly shines when combined with delicate Mediterranean cuisine, as it complements the flavors of the food without overpowering them. A wine for anyone seeking a crisp, fresh, and characterful white wine with a coastal flair.

Grattamacco

Grattamacco was different from the very beginning. In 1977, when hardly anyone believed in Bolgheri, the founders planted their first vines here. The second winery in the region. The first to produce a Bolgheri Rosso. Pioneers who made Vermentino famous before anyone even knew it existed. Today, the estate sits on a wooded hill between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, overlooking the coast. Sea breezes cool the wine, and the white clay soil retains minerality. The reason? A dried-up salt lake from ancient times – and you can taste it. In the cellar: as little intervention as possible. Everything is done by hand, with minimal technology. Sangiovese, Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot – each grape gets the time it needs. Wine that doesn't deny its terroir.
