Ferguson Estate
A red wine from Washington State that demonstrates what basalt soil and meticulous craftsmanship can achieve from a single vineyard. L'Ecole N° 41's Ferguson Estate embodies the maturity of the Walla Walla Valley AVA – structured, profound, and with excellent aging potential.
L'Ecole N° 41 is one of the pioneers of the Walla Walla Valley. Founded in 1983 in a historic school building, the winery sustainably cultivates its 42-hectare Ferguson Vineyard. The vines are rooted in 15-million-year-old basalt rock – an unusual terroir that imparts a pronounced mineral tension to the wine.
In the glass, the Ferguson Estate displays dark berry fruit – blackberry and cassis – with notes of cedar and graphite. The acidity is precise, the tannins dense but not harsh, and the finish long and spicy. A wine with backbone that can benefit from several more years of development.
