Duas Quintas Reserva - Douro Denominação de Origem Controlada 0.75L

The Duas Quintas Reserva from the Douro shows what the region can do beyond Port: a structured red wine with real body and at the same time lively freshness.

Ramos Pinto is one of the traditional houses of the Douro Valley, which has its roots in Port wine production but has also been producing dry still wines with a clear quality standard for decades. The Reserva line comes from selected sites of the two Quintas in the heart of the Douro Superior — one of the hottest and driest parts of the appellation, where the vines must root deep into the slate. Touriga Francesa, the aromatically finer sister of Touriga Nacional, forms the backbone of this cuvée.

In the glass, luminous garnet red. The nose opens with sour cherry, ripe plum, and a hint of violets, plus subtle roasted aromas in the background. On the palate, dense but well-integrated tannins, lush fruit that is kept in balance by a fresh line of acidity — not a heavy Douro wine, but one with tension. The finish is long and spicy.

Pairs with oven-baked lamb, duck breast with fig sauce, or strong hard cheese. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
