Dr. Hinkel Chardonnay Ice Wine

An ice wine that loves extremes: concentrated sweetness meets lively freshness — the result of grapes that are only harvested at temperatures of at least −8 °C.

Dr. Hinkel is a Rheinhessen winery with a long tradition of cultivating classic grape varieties. Chardonnay as ice wine is a rarity – here, the grape variety brings its natural fruitiness and acidity to an exceptionally dense concentration.

On the nose, apricot, blossom honey, and herbal tea, along with an unusual radish note that hints at depth. On the palate, candied orange peel, panettone with dried fruit, and a creamy texture. The sweetness is compact, not cloying—held in place by a mineral freshness that keeps the wine vibrant. The finish reveals more orangeade and dried fruit, long and concentrated.

Serving suggestion: Serve well chilled at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with blue cheeses like Roquefort, apricot tart, or crème brûlée with orange zest. Also a delight on its own as the finale to a festive meal. Drinking window: now until 2035+.
