Heppenheimer Centgericht Grauburgunder Crescentia VDP. Erste Lage

Since 1971, the Hessische Bergstraße has been an independent wine-growing region. Nestled between the rivers Main, Rhine and Neckar, it is the third smallest in Germany with only around 430 hectares of cultivated area. The location of the Steinberg, facing south to southwest, has a medium to deep, skeleton-rich soil with a fresh texture. In the lower part, the soil consists of sandy to clayey loam, while the upper part has stony and gritty slate soils. The wall around the vineyard, which was built by the monks in the 18th century, protects the site from cold air and once served as a barrier against grape theft and wild animals.
