Domaine de Chevalier Rouge Grand Cru Classé AC Pessac-Léognan

The Domaine de Chevalier Rouge shows how classic and at the same time focused a red Pessac-Léognan can be: dense dark fruit, fine spice, and a clear mineral line.

The estate belongs to the Grands Crus Classés of the Pessac-Léognan appellation south of Bordeaux. The red wine is created as a traditional assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. It was aged in barriques, some of them in new oak, which gives it structure and depth.

In the glass, it glows deep ruby red with garnet-red reflections. On the nose, baked plum and dark berry compote meet spices, cedar wood, garrigue, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, the wine feels dry, dense, and precise, with juicy fruit, mineral pull, and velvety integrated tannins. The finish is long and clearly defined.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16–18 °C, preferably decanted beforehand. It goes with grilled entrecôte, braised lamb with rosemary, duck breast with mushrooms, or mature hard cheese.

The Domaine

Domaine de Chevalier

Domaine de Chevalier is one of the great estates of Graves – that underrated Bordeaux region south of the city, which produces both dry white wines and classic reds. The estate is located in the heart of the Léognan forest, which lends the microclimate a unique coolness.
