Domaine de Chévalier Blanc Cru Classé AC Pessac-Léognan 0.75L

The Blanc from Domaine de Chevalier is one of the great white Bordeaux — not a light summer wine, but a structured, serious white wine with depth that shows what Sauvignon Blanc can achieve in the Graves gravel soils of Pessac-Léognan.

Domaine de Chevalier is located in the heart of Léognan, surrounded by forest — a location that cools the microclimate and preserves the aromatics of the grapes. Since the 1959 classification, the estate has been one of the Crus Classés de Graves and is at least as well-known for its white wines as for its reds. The soils of gravel and sand over clay give the Sauvignon Blanc a mineral tension that clearly distinguishes it from wines from the Loire Valley or New Zealand.

In the glass, it shows aromas of white peach, citrus zest, and fresh herbs, underpinned by a smoky-mineral note typical of the Graves terroirs. The acidity is precise and well-integrated, the body full without being heavy, the finish long and salty.

Served at 12–14 °C, it pairs well with lobster with butter sauce, grilled turbot, scallops, or a ripe goat cheese from the Loire.
