De Gras Merlot
An uncomplicated everyday red wine from Chile that scores with soft fruit and pleasant spice — for evenings when things don't need to be complicated.
MontGras is one of the established wineries in Chile's Colchagua Valley, one of the country's leading red wine regions. The estate relies on modern cellar technology combined with selective oak aging—a characteristic clearly evident in their De Gras Merlot.
The majority of the wine matures in stainless steel tanks, which keeps the primary fruit fresh. Around 15% spends twelve months in small French and American oak barrels—hence the subtle spiciness in the background. On the nose, ripe blackberry and plum, along with a hint of mint and dried herbs. Soft on the palate, with barely perceptible tannins and a pleasantly long finish.
Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Drink now — not a wine for aging. Pairs well with pasta with tomato sauce, grilled sausages, or mild hard cheese.
