Cuvée Wilhelm Réserve dry QW Palatinate 0.75L

The Cuvée Wilhelm Réserve is the red wine that the Wageck Pfaffmann winery reserves for moments when substance matters. Cabernet Franc forms the backbone of this Pfalz cuvée — a grape variety that finds true ripeness in the southern Pfalz with its warm loess soils and long growing seasons.

Wageck Pfaffmann is one of the established addresses in the Pfalz that relied on classic Bordeaux varieties long before it became fashionable. The winery from Bissersheim manages its vineyards with the goal of maintaining varietal expression — no winemaking for the sake of effect, but terroir work with a clear sense of style.

A deep dark ruby red appears in the glass. On the nose, blackberry and cassis, plus graphite and a fine bell pepper — the characteristic profile of Cabernet Franc when harvested fully ripe. On the palate, medium to full body, grippy but not harsh tannins, a lively acidity structure that keeps the finish long and dry.

Pairs well with rack of lamb with a herb crust, mature cheddar, or a game pâté. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. If you have time, you can open the bottle an hour beforehand — the wine opens up significantly with air.
