Cuvée Katharina Sekt Rosé Vienna Réserve Brut Nature Sparkling wine from Austria

A rosé sparkling wine from Vienna, vinified dry and without dosage (Brut Nature): The Cuvée Katharina Réserve from Fritz Wieninger focuses on freshness, drive, and clarity instead of sweetness.

The Wieninger winery is one of the most famous estates in the Viennese wine scene and works according to the guidelines of organic viticulture. The grapes for this cuvée of Pinot Noir and Zweigelt come from the Bisamberg, are harvested by hand, and are picked early so that the acidity remains racy and the alcohol moderate. The sparkling wine is created through classic bottle fermentation with subsequent long yeast aging, which gives the wine depth and complexity.

In the glass, it shows a delicate salmon-pink with a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, raspberry and sour cherry meet strawberry, apricot, and a hint of orange zest. On the palate, the sparkling wine is lively and crisp, with present acidity, a slender structure, and a lingering finish.

Serve it at 6–8 °C as an aperitif, with smoked salmon, shrimp, sushi, or a plate of prosciutto and melon.
