Contadi Castaldi Satèn Brut DOCG Franciacorta 0.75L

Contadi Castaldi Satèn Brut DOCG Franciacorta 0.75L
A Satèn from Lombardy — the most elegant category of Franciacorta. Only white wine grapes are allowed in the Satèn, and the bottle pressure is lower than in the classic Brut: the result is a particularly creamy, silky perlage.
Contadi Castaldi is one of the defining houses in the Franciacorta area south of Lake Iseo. The soils here are of glacial origin — moraine deposits with a high gravel content — and give the Chardonnay a mineral basic tension that distinguishes it from many other sparkling wines in Italy. After the second fermentation in the bottle, the Satèn matures on the lees before it is disgorged — a process borrowed from Champagne that has earned Franciacorta its reputation as a serious alternative.
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow color with green reflections, the perlage fine and persistent. On the nose, white peach, acacia blossom, and a hint of yeast brioche. On the palate, creamy and soft, the acidity present but never sharp, the finish with a light citrus freshness. Drinking temperature: 7–9 °C. As an aperitif, with seafood risotto, steamed sea bass, or a mild soft cheese like Taleggio.
