Clos Saint Martin Grand Cru Classé 0.75L

Clos Saint Martin Grand Cru Classé 0.75L
On just 1.3 hectares, this Grand Cru Classé is produced on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion — enclosed by old natural stone walls that shape the microclimate and give the Cabernet Franc extraordinary concentration.
Clos Saint Martin is one of the smallest appellations of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. The location on the limestone plateau, the most prestigious terroir of the appellation, gives the wine its characteristic minerality and structure. Cabernet Franc shows here what it can achieve on limestone subsoil: more finesse than power, more depth than volume.
In the glass, a red wine presents itself with aromas of ripe blackberries, violets, and a hint of graphite. Added to this are fine notes of cedar wood and dried herbs, as is typical for Cabernet Franc from Saint-Émilion. The tannins are present but silky — the finish long and mineral with a subtle spice.
Served at 16–18 °C, it accompanies saddle of lamb with rosemary, entrecôte, or a mature Ossau-Iraty. Anyone wishing to decant it should give it a good hour — that opens the aromas noticeably.
