Chavarri Rioja Gran Reserva DOCa 0.75L

A Gran Reserva from the house of Bodegas Larchago — that means long aging, strict selection, and a Tempranillo that shows the classic side of Rioja: structured, profound, with the unmistakable profile of an aged red wine from one of Spain's most significant appellations.

The DOCa Rioja is one of the oldest and most regulated wine-growing regions in Europe. The Gran Reserva status is tied to legally prescribed minimum aging periods — it may only be produced in particularly good vintages. Bodegas Larchago relies on Tempranillo as the supporting grape variety, which has stood for wines with substance and aging potential in Rioja for generations.

In the glass, the Chavarri Gran Reserva shows the typical aromas of an aged Tempranillo: dark cherry, leather, dried herbs, and a hint of tobacco. The tannin is integrated, the body medium to powerful, the finish long and spicy. A wine with backbone, but without hard edges.

It pairs best with leg of lamb with rosemary, Ibérico ham, or a hearty Manchego. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Decanting for 30 minutes brings the full aromatic potential into the glass.
