Château Trotte Vieille 1er Grand Cru Classé B AC Saint-Émilion 0.75L

Château Trotte Vieille is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Émilion and has been among the top tier of the appellation for decades — one of the few Premiers Grands Crus Classés B that consistently relies on Cabernet Franc, while most neighbors swear by Merlot dominance.

The estate is located on the Saint-Émilion plateau, on limestone-rich soils that drive Cabernet Franc to extraordinary precision. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. The nose brings blackberry and cassis, plus fresh violets, a hint of graphite, and fine cedar wood. On the palate, medium to full body, lively acidity, silky tannins with a clear structure — no weight for the sake of weight. The finish is long, spicy, with a hint of licorice and earth.

Trotte Vieille is not a show wine, but a wine for the table. Serve it at 16–18 °C with roasted leg of lamb with a herb crust, saddle of wild boar, or a ripe Époisses. For those who don't need a special occasion: good bread and some Pâté are perfectly sufficient.
