Château Puygueraud

Château Puygueraud is one of the most famous names in the Côtes de Francs – a small, often overlooked appellation east of Saint-Émilion, where the Thivvin family has been producing high-quality Bordeaux red wine for generations.

In the glass, it displays ripe blackberry and black cherry , complemented by lavender, black olive, and a subtle spiciness reminiscent of Mediterranean garrigue. The body is medium to full-bodied, the tannins firmly structured but without harshness – the finish remains spicy and lingering.

Typical of the Côtes de Francs: more character per euro than many more famous Bordeaux appellations. The wine is well-suited for aging, but also enjoyable to drink now with decanting.

  • Dishes: Leg of lamb with rosemary, entrecôte, confit de canard or aged Cantal
  • Temperature: 16–18 °C
  • Drinking window: now until approximately 2030
