Château Pichon Baron Château Pichon-Longueville-Baron

Pichon Baron is one of the most well-known addresses in Pauillac — a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé 1855) with the style and structural depth that one would rather expect at Premier Cru prices. The winery is located directly south of Château Latour and manages around 73 hectares on classic Médoc gravel and limestone subsoil.

In the glass, it shows the texture typical for Pauillac: dark cherry and blackberry, cassis, behind it nuances of cedar wood, pencil, and a hint of vanilla from the barrique aging. The tannins are dense but precisely formed — no rough wood, but a structured frame that carries the wine for years. The finish is long, spicy, and slightly salty.

Young Pichon Baron needs time or air: two to three hours of decanting are worth it.
