Château Malescot 3ème Grand Cru Margaux
Château Malescot St. Exupéry is one of the classic Margaux estates that Bordeaux wine drinkers should know: a 3ème Grand Cru Classé with roots in the 17th century, now owned by the Zuger family. The Margaux appellation is known for Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wines of particular elegance—fine tannin structure and a depth shaped by the gravelly subsoil of the left bank of the Garonne.
The 2018 vintage displays a dark ruby red color with violet highlights. The nose offers aromas of black cherry, plum, and licorice, underpinned by mocha notes and dark spice. On the palate, it presents powerful yet ripe tannins, a fresh acidity as its backbone, and a long, juicy finish with a hint of smoke. This wine needs air—at least two hours in a decanter will noticeably open it up. Wine Spectator rates the vintage at 93–96 points .
Drinking window: decant now or from 2026 without. Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb shoulder, entrecôte with herb butter or mature Comté cheese.
