Chateau Larcis Ducasse 1er Grand Cru Classe B

A Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion that convinces with precision and depth — not a loud, opulent Bordeaux, but a wine with attitude and a long perspective.

Château Larcis Ducasse is located on the southeastern slope of the Côtes de Saint-Émilion, directly below Pavie. The location on clay-limestone soils with a steep gradient is one of the reasons for the wine's pronounced minerality and freshness. Since the takeover by Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt in the early 2000s, the winery has undergone a clear change in style: away from extraction, towards elegance and terroir expression. The classification as Premier Grand Cru Classé B in 2012 was the logical consequence.

In the glass, violets and iris appear, behind them blackcurrant and a hint of dark plum. The tannins are finely structured, present without dominating — they give the wine contour and aging potential. The finish is long, with a mineral, slightly salty note that is typical for the Côtes sites.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C, feel free to decant an hour beforehand. At the table, it pairs with braised lamb shoulder, entrecôte with herb butter, or mature Comté.
