Chateau Larcis Ducasse 1er Grand Cru Classe B

A Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion that impresses with precision and depth — not a loud, opulent Bordeaux, but a wine with attitude and a long perspective.

Château Larcis Ducasse lies on the southeastern slopes of the Côtes de Saint-Émilion, directly below Pavie. Its location on clay-limestone soils with a steep gradient is one of the reasons for the wine's pronounced minerality and freshness. Since its acquisition by Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt in the early 2000s, the estate has undergone a clear stylistic shift: away from extraction and towards elegance and terroir expression. Its classification as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B in 2012 was the logical consequence.

In the glass, aromas of violet and iris emerge, followed by blackcurrant and a hint of dark plum. The tannins are finely structured, present without being overpowering—giving the wine structure and aging potential. The finish is long, with a mineral, slightly salty note typical of Côtes vineyards.

Drinking window: 2026–2038. Serving temperature 16–18 °C, decant an hour beforehand if desired. At the table, it pairs well with braised lamb shoulder, entrecôte with herb butter, or aged Comté cheese.
