Château Langoa Barton AOC Saint-Julien 3°GC Classé

Château Langoa Barton is one of the most reliable addresses in Saint-Julien—a third growth that can easily keep up with higher-classified neighbors in good vintages. The winery is located directly on the road through the Médoc, wedged between the great Léoville estates, and has been managed by the Irish-descended Barton family since 1821—one of the few cases where ownership and cellar management have remained in one hand for two hundred years.

In the glass, this Cabernet Sauvignon shows the classic profile of Saint-Julien: cassis and dark cherry in the foreground, followed by graphite, dried herbs, and a hint of cedar wood. The tannins are present but not coarse—rather firm and structured, as is typical for the appellation. The finish is long and dry, with a subtle mineral line.

Langoa Barton needs time in the glass or in the cellar to open up completely. Decant the wine at least two hours before serving. Drinking temperature: 17–18 °C. At the table, it pairs well with rack of lamb with a herb crust, aged Comté, or a classic Boeuf bourguignon.
