Château La Cardonne Cru Bourgeois Supérieur 0.75L
Château La Cardonne is located in the northern Médoc, in the Médoc AOC appellation — that part of the peninsula that makes fewer headlines than Pauillac or Saint-Julien, but provides classic Bordeaux character at reasonable prices. The classification as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur is not a marketing title, but is regularly checked and awarded by independent commissions — a reliable point of orientation in the confusing Bordeaux universe.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. The nose opens with cassis and dark plum, plus hints of cedar wood and dried herbs — typical for Cabernet Franc as a defining grape variety, which gives the wine a certain spice and freshness that pure Cabernet Sauvignon often lacks. On the palate, medium body, well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a persistent, slightly earthy finish.
Serving temperature 16–18 °C. At the table, it goes well with a classic entrecôte with herb butter, leg of lamb with rosemary, or a mature Cantal. If you are not planning a big Bordeaux evening but still want to drink a cleanly crafted glass of Médoc, this is the right choice.
