Château Figeac Premier Grand Cru Classé B 0.75L
Château Figeac is one of the great addresses of the right bank of Bordeaux — and not despite, but because of its unusual grape variety profile. Where Saint-Émilion usually relies on Merlot, Cabernet Franc dominates here and gives the wine its own unmistakable signature: leaner, aromatically more precise, with more tension in the finish.
The winery is located on the northwestern edge of the appellation, on a gravel ridge that geologically reminds one more of the Médoc than the typical Saint-Émilion limestone soil. This peculiarity has shaped the style for generations: Premier Grand Cru Classé B, with a site that leaves the vines little water and thus forces concentration.
In the glass, it shows deep garnet violet. The bouquet layers crème de cassis and plum compote over restrained notes of mint, violets, and cedarwood — Cabernet Franc in its elegant, cool expression. On the palate follows a medium-bodied structure with firm tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy-mineral finish.
Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with rack of lamb with a herb crust, entrecôte, or mature Ossau-Iraty. If you have time, decant for at least an hour.
