Château de Chamirey Mercurey rouge Devillard

Mercurey is the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise – and Château de Chamirey is one of the most renowned estates in this appellation. The Devillard family has managed the property since the 1980s and has developed it into one of the leading wineries in southern Burgundy. The vineyards lie on clay-limestone soil, which gives the Pinot Noir an earthy depth that, while more expensive, is not necessarily better in the great Côte de Nuits vineyards.

In the glass, the Mercurey Rouge displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of sour cherry and blackberry, underpinned by a hint of undergrowth and clove. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with velvety tannins and lively acidity that keeps the wine fresh and inviting. The finish is pleasantly long with a subtle oak note – typical of Burgundian aging in oak barrels.
