Château Chasse Spleen Moulis

Chasse-Spleen is one of the most famous Crus from Moulis-en-Médoc — an appellation west of Margaux that stands for structured, age-worthy red wines with their own character. The name goes back to a legend involving Lord Byron: a glass of this wine is said to have dispelled his melancholy.

The 2014 vintage benefited in the Médoc from a warm, dry autumn after a changeable summer — the wines show good concentration with lively acidity. In the glass, a powerful ruby red with violet reflections.

On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of blackcurrant, cedarwood, and tobacco, underneath a hint of violets. On the palate, ripe, dense tannins join with a vanilla note from the barrique aging — typical for the style of the Château. The finish is long, with fine spice aromas and good structure.
