Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhone 1.5L Magnum
Blackberry, raspberry, leather and black pepper — the Belleruche from Chapoutier shows why the Côtes du Rhône is more than just a pleasing everyday wine.
M. Chapoutier is one of the most renowned wineries in the Rhône Valley and has been cultivating its vineyards biodynamically since 1990. The Belleruche is the classic entry-level cuvée—typically made from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre—and reflects the sun-drenched southern part of the appellation: ripe fruit, wild herbs, and a hint of garrigue.
Dark berry fruits, blackberry jam, and raspberry dominate in the glass, underpinned by leathery notes and the black pepper typical of Syrah. The body is full-bodied with soft tannins and a spicy, medium-length finish. The magnum bottle slows down the aging process—resulting in a wine that is fresher and more structured than the 0.75-liter bottle.
Serving suggestion: 16–18 °C, now until 2027. Pairs well with grilled lamb loin, Merguez sausage, aubergine gratin or mature hard cheeses such as Comté or Cantal.
