Canace Nero di Troia Puglia
The name "Canace" comes from the first syllables of the cities Canosa and Acerenza, near which the wineries are located - on the one hand Canosa in the hills north of Bari in the DOC region Castel del Monte at 480 meters above sea level, and on the other hand in Acerenza in Basilicata. The soils are calcareous and have a rocky subsoil, on which the vines grow with a density of 3500 per hectare.
The harvest in 2013 in Apulia was marked by one of the coldest spring and summer periods. Abundant yields led to a slight delay in ripening. But the late summer warmth into October brought an excellent full ripeness of the grapes, so that the harvest could begin at the beginning of November.
The grapes were subjected to a longer-lasting maceration of 15 to 20 days before fermentation took place. After the fermentation process, the wine lay on the fine lees for a period of about eight months, followed by a 12-month storage in large French oak barrels.
Deep red in color, with a hint of violets. The complex bouquet offers warm spices, cocoa, coffee, licorice, and ripe berry fruits.
The full-bodied Canace possesses a wonderfully fresh acidity from the Aglianico, is nevertheless soft and velvety on the palate, and balanced with elegant tannins and long-lasting spice.

The Cantina
Cantina Diomede from Apulia bears a name deeply rooted in mythology: The Homeric hero Diomede is said to have once landed in southern Italy and brought with him the vines from which Uva di Troia was created – one of the most fascinating grape varieties of the region.
In the heart of these legendary fields, the Campi Diomede, what began centuries ago continues to grow: wines with character, matured in oak barrels, combining tradition with modern cellar technology. Robust, profound, and with a true Apulian soul – history is in every sip.
