Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva
A Brunello that takes time seriously: at least five years in French wooden barrels, twelve months in the bottle – and including Sangiovese Grosso vines that have been rooted in Montalcino for at least 25 years.
Le Macioche is located in the northwest of Montalcino, one of the cooler sectors of the Denomination. The winery works with relatively low yields and long maceration in stainless steel tanks before the wine is transferred to barrels. The result is a Riserva that significantly exceeds the minimum DOCG requirements.
In the glass, it displays a dark ruby red color with a garnet rim. The nose opens with plum compote and dark cherry, followed by leather, tobacco, and a hint of coffee bean – typical mature aromas of a well-made Brunello. On the palate, the lively acidity is surprising, having been retained despite the long oak aging. The tannins are firm but integrated, and the finish is long and spicy.
Drinking window: now until 2035+. Decanting recommended (at least 60 minutes). Serving temperature 17–18 °C.
- Braised beef shoulder with rosemary
- Wild boar ragù on pappardelle
- Mature Pecorino di Pienza
