Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - organic

Brunello di Montalcino is one of Italy's great red wines — powerful, long-lived, unmistakably Tuscan. This organic Brunello shows what Sangiovese Grosso can achieve on the calcareous marl soils south of Montalcino: depth without heaviness, structure without hardness.

Montalcino is located in the southern Siena hills, where hot summers and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly. Sangiovese Grosso — traditionally called Brunello here — is the only permitted grape variety of the DOCG, and organic cultivation allows the soil characteristics of these sites to shine through particularly clearly in the glass.

In the glass, a classic Brunello profile appears: sour cherry and red currant, underpinned by tobacco, leather, and a hint of dried herbs. The tannins are ripe and firm, the acidity enlivens without stinging, the finish long and spicy. With some air, it opens up significantly — 30–45 minutes of decanting time are worth it.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. At the table, it pairs with braised beef, game ragù on pappardelle, or aged Pecorino di Pienza.
