Bosco del Merlo Merlot Riserva Campo Camino DOC Venezia

A single-varietal Merlot from the DOC Venezia, showing what Northeast Italy can do with this grape variety: dark fruit, subtle spice and a body that deserves Riserva level.

Bosco del Merlo is located in the Piave region between Venice and the Dolomites—a region where clay-rich soils and the temperate climate near the Adriatic Sea are particularly beneficial to Merlot. The winery has specialized in indigenous and classic grape varieties of this area for decades and is one of the established names in the Venetian DOC region. Campo Camino is the estate's Riserva line: longer aging, selective harvesting, and maturation in oak barrels.

In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby ​​red with violet reflections. The nose offers aromas of blackberry and plum, underpinned by black pepper and a hint of tobacco—typical of Merlot from cooler climates. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with velvety tannins without harshness and lively acidity that gives the wine structure. The finish is long, with notes of blackcurrant and a subtle hint of cedar from barrel aging.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2028. Pairs well with braised beef shoulder, duck breast with balsamic reduction, or medium-aged hard cheeses such as Asiago d'Allevo. Also a reliable choice with hearty pasta dishes with ragù.
