Blanton's Original American Whiskey
Blanton's Original is considered one of the originators of single-barrel bourbon – bottled from a single barrel, not blended, not smoothed.
The Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, has been producing Blanton's since 1984 in the legendary Warehouse H warehouses. Each cask is individually assessed and only bottled when the Master Distiller deems it ready for maturation – no vintage, but each bottle with an individual cask number and bottling date on the label.
The nose reveals a rich amber color in the glass: grain, fresh orange, and a hint of pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and creamy – vanilla, caramel, and ripe fruit, accompanied by delicate floral notes. The finish is long, spicy, and complex: cloves, star anise, and a cool mint accent.
Neat in a tumbler at room temperature – this is how the complexity and long finish best come to the fore. For a lighter option: a single large ice cube opens up the fruity notes. Blanton's also shines as an Old Fashioned or Manhattan .
