Barolo Falletto DOCG Piedmont 1.5L

Serralunga d'Alba is considered the toughest school of Barolo — the soil of pure Helvetian limestone forces the vine to root deeply and gives the wine a structural severity that lasts for decades. The Falletto di Bruno Giacosa has been rooted in this site for generations, and the Falletto single vineyard is one of the canonical addresses of Piedmont.

The Nebbiolo vines, between 29 and 33 years old, grow on southwest-facing slopes — maximum sunlight, slow ripening, concentrated berry size. The harvest took place by hand on October 16, 2021, at the classic time for Serralunga. The 1.5-liter magnum bottle offers ideal maturation conditions: lower oxygen content per volume, more even development.

In the glass, the wine shows the typical Nebbiolo profile of this site: dried cherry and pomegranate, tar and violet, plus a mineral undertone reminiscent of pebbles and iron ore. The tannins are firm and precise — not forceful, but structural. The finish is long, dry, slightly salty.

Serve it at 17–18 °C, preferably decanted two hours beforehand. Classic accompaniment: braised beef shoulder with Barolo jus, tajarin with white truffle, or aged Parmigiano Reggiano. A magnum bottle also makes it the centerpiece of an evening built around the wine.
