Barolo DOCG 0.75L
Nebbiolo in its classic form: The Barolo from Pico Maccario in Piedmont shows why this grape variety is considered one of Italy's most demanding — with structure, depth, and an aroma profile that gains breadth in the glass.
Pico Maccario is a Piedmontese winery with roots in Monferrato that consistently focuses on the strengths of the region. For the Barolo, the house works with Nebbiolo from the DOCG core sites of the Langhe, where the soil of tuff and marl shapes the characteristic minerality of these wines.
In the glass, the wine shines in deep ruby with garnet reflections. The nose shows rose petals, dark cherry, and blackberry, plus spices like star anise and a hint of dried violets. On the palate, powerful but ripe tannins, a lively acid structure, and a long, slightly tarry-spicy finish — typical for well-made Barolo.
Best served at 16–18 °C, ideally decanted an hour beforehand. Classic accompaniment: Brasato al Barolo, wild boar ragù, or aged Parmigiano Reggiano. Also a harmonious choice for porcini mushroom risotto.
