Barbera d'Asti Lavignone in GP DOCG 0.75L
The Lavignone from Pico Maccario shows what Barbera d'Asti can bring to the point: fruit-driven, lively, without detours.
The Pico Maccario winery is located in the heart of the Monferrato, south of Asti. The family manages their vineyards in Piedmont with a clear focus on Barbera — that grape variety which long stood in the shadow of Nebbiolo in Piedmont, but is today valued for its accessibility and strength of character. The Lavignone is their entry into the DOCG world, direct and without beating around the bush.
It shines in a rich ruby red in the glass. On the nose, fresh cherry, blackberry, and a hint of violets. On the palate, the Barbera shows its typical strength: lively acidity, little tannin, a juicy, straightforward finish with a touch of red fruits. A wine that needs no long explanations.
Pairs with pasta al ragù, grilled sausages, lamb chops, or a platter of salumi and Pecorino. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
