Barbazul

Barbazul
The Barbazul from Huerta de Albala is a powerful red wine from Andalusia – dense, warm and with a depth that you can feel immediately in the first sip.
Huerta de Albala is located in the hinterland of the Costa de la Luz, in the Vinos de la Tierra Cádiz region. The winery focuses on old grape varieties of the region – primarily Tintilla de Rota and Syrah – and works with low yields on calcareous soils. The Barbazul is one of their flagship wines: a wine with southern warmth that nevertheless possesses structure.
In the glass, a deep, dark ruby violet. On the nose, ripe blackberry, plum, and a hint of licorice, underpinned by roasted aromas and warm spice notes. On the palate, a rich, creamy texture, dense, well-integrated tannins, and a long, spicy finish with a touch of dark chocolate.
Serving suggestion: Best served between 17 and 19 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb, chorizo, aged Manchego cheese, or a hearty beef stew. If desired, let it breathe in the carafe for 30 minutes beforehand – this will noticeably open it up.
Huerta de Albalá – this is an Andalusian dream come true. Nestled in the rolling hills of the province of Cádiz, under the watchful gaze of the Sierra de Grazalema, Vicente Taberner created a winery 25 years ago that lives just like the region itself: passionately, unconventionally, and deeply rooted.
225,000 vines grow on 75 hectares – including the rare Tintilla de Rota , an almost forgotten Andalusian rarity. Wines with true character mature in over 450 French and American oak barrels: dark-fruited, complex, and full of southern warmth.
