Amica Sauvignon Blanc

The Amica Sauvignon Blanc from Neil Ellis shows how much structure this grape variety can have when it is created in wood instead of stainless steel. A white wine for those looking for Sauvignon Blanc with more depth and tension on the palate.

Neil Ellis is one of South Africa's well-known wineries and stands for wines from the Western Cape. For the Amica, the wine is fermented in wooden barrels, and the fermentation occurs spontaneously. It is then aged in French oak. This gives it texture without masking the freshness of the grape variety.

On the nose, fruit blossoms and lemon zest appear. On the palate, it is fresh and structured, carried by a stony minerality that leads into a lively, lingering finish.

Serve it at 8–10 °C. It pairs with grilled fish, fresh goat cheese, asparagus, or poultry with lemon and is also suitable as a companion for a dinner for two.

The Winery

Neil Ellis

A pioneer of South African viticulture: Neil Ellis began in 1984 as one of the country's first "négociants." Without his own vineyards, he bought the best grapes and vinified them in rented spaces – a bold idea at the time.

Today, his son Warren runs the winery in the Jonkershoek Valley. The concept remains the same: perfect grapes from the best sites – from Stellenbosch, Elgin, and Darling. The modern winery with massive rammed-earth walls has stood at the Helshoogte Pass since 2010.

The wines are elegant, precise, and full of character. A true piece of South African pioneering spirit in the glass.
