A pioneer of South African viticulture: Neil Ellis began in 1984 as one of the country's first "négociants." Without his own vineyards, he bought the best grapes and vinified them in rented spaces – a bold idea at the time.

Today, his son Warren runs the winery in the Jonkershoek Valley. The concept remains the same: perfect grapes from the best sites – from Stellenbosch, Elgin, and Darling. The modern winery with massive rammed-earth walls has stood at the Helshoogte Pass since 2010.

The wines are elegant, precise, and full of character. A true piece of South African pioneering spirit in the glass.

Pioneering spirit from the Jonkershoek Valley since 1984

Neil Ellis is one of the pioneers of South African quality viticulture: started as a négociant in 1984, the winery still sources grapes from the best sites in Stellenbosch, Elgin and Darling today. Since 2010, son Warren has been vinifying in the new winery at Helshoogte Pass – precise, site-true, without detours.
