Altenburger Jois Cuvee Altenburger

Markus Altenburger's Jois Cuvée combines Burgundian rigor with Pannonian warmth – a red wine that offers both structure and approachability.

Markus Altenburger cultivates his vineyards around Jois on Lake Neusiedl, where the Pannonian climate allows for long ripening periods and full fruit ripening. The cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Zweigelt demonstrates how well international varieties can harmonize with the local Zweigelt grape.

In the glass, a deep purple-red with garnet edges. On the nose, dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of cedar. On the palate, medium to full-bodied, ripe tannins with a pleasant structure, finishing with a light spiciness and hints of dark chocolate and bay leaf.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised beef , leg of lamb with rosemary, or aged mountain cheese. Drinking window: now until 2026.
