19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon

19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon — a full-bodied red wine from South Australia that impresses with dark fruit and a soft structure. Direct, approachable, without any major rough edges.

There's more to the label than just marketing: 19 Crimes commemorates the 19 offenses for which convicts in the British Empire were deported to Australia. The brand now belongs to Treasury Wine Estates and produces in large quantities for the international market—the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from South Australia, where warm summers provide fully ripe grapes.

Deep ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals blackberry, blackcurrant, and distinct vanilla notes—an indication of oak aging. On the palate, soft, ripe tannins, a subtle sweetness, and aromas of dark cherry and chocolate. The finish is medium-long and pleasantly smooth.

Serving suggestion: Serve well chilled at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with grilled beef, pulled pork, or tangy cheddar. Not a wine for cellaring—best enjoyed young.

19 Crimes

19 Crimes – the name says it all. In 18th-century Australia, people convicted of one of 19 offenses were summarily banished Down Under. Instead of breaking their spirits, many of them became pioneers.

This very spirit resides in every bottle: rule-breakers, boundary-pushers, originals. The Australian winery has dedicated itself to these outlaws – and brings their stories to life with a clever augmented reality app on the label. Simply point your camera at it, and the historical figures themselves will tell you who they were.

The wines? Full of character, approachable, with rough edges – just like their namesakes.
