Fruit wine

Fruit wine and cider from Werder (Havel)

Fruit wine is wine that is not made from grapes, but from fruit – such as cherries, currants, rhubarb, or elderberry. Our fruit wines come from the Glina Distillery in Werder (Havel), the Brandenburg fruit-growing region just outside Potsdam. Most bottles cost €7.90.

The varieties at a glance

Glina produces single-varietal fruit wines and blends made from several fruits:

• Stone fruit: Sweet cherry wine, apricot
• Berries: Strawberry wine, currant wine, raspberry, and the berry mix "S6ex"
• Pome fruit and blossoms: Pear, elderberry, rhubarb
• Multi-fruit wine: "Rote Lola"

If you like it sparkling, go for the Secco: Glina makes it from vineyard peach and from apple and pear, each for €9.99.

Who is behind the fruit wines

The Glina Distillery began in 1991 as a fruit winery on the Schultz’scher Siedlerhof in Werder (Havel). Today, it is primarily known for its German whisky. The fruit wine has remained – it is the origin of the farm and what Werder has stood for in the region for generations.

What fruit wine goes well with

Drink fruit wine chilled as an aperitif, with dessert, or simply on the terrace. Currant and cherry wine accompany cheese and game dishes, while rhubarb and elderberry go well with light summer dishes. In winter, a berry or cherry wine can also be drunk warm, similar to mulled wine.
