Erath Winery

Erath Winery is among the pioneers of Pinot Noir in Oregon. Dick Erath founded the winery in 1967 in the renowned Willamette Valley. The vineyards benefit from a unique terroir of volcanic Jory soil and marine sediments, combined with a cool climate that ensures slow grape ripening. This results in elegant, fruit-forward wines with depth and finesse. Erath stands for authentic, terroir-driven Pinot Noirs with a distinct Oregon character.

Erath Winery –
Pinot Noir pioneer in the Willamette Valley

Erath Winery is one of the founding figures of modern Oregon winemaking. Dick Erath planted his first vines in the Willamette Valley in 1967 – at a time when hardly anyone believed that Pinot Noir could seriously thrive in the northwestern United States. What followed proved them wrong: a winery that has decisively shaped the character of this region.

The vineyards grow on an unusual mix of volcanic Jory soil and marine sediments. The cool climate of the Willamette Valley ensures slow, even ripening – the foundation for Pinot Noirs with a fine acidity, depth, and fruit that is never overpowering. Red berries, a touch of earth, a subtle herbal note: this is the unmistakable Oregon style that Erath consistently pursues.

The wines are suitable for grilled salmon, duck breast or a mature goat cheese – and are equally good as companions for a quiet evening without a special occasion.
