Domaine de Fontenille

Domaine de Fontenille – Pouilly-Fumé with passion. In 1982, Patrick Maudry gave up farming to pursue his dream: wine. He started with 80 ares of Pouilly-Fumé; today, the estate comprises 16 hectares in the heart of the appellation, in the hamlet of Fontenille. The vineyards face southwest, on clay and limestone soils. The Sauvignon Blanc vines are between 15 and 25 years old. Modern technology meets traditional craftsmanship: pneumatic presses, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks – and since 2009, his son David has been part of the team. Pouilly-Fumé as it should be: pure, precise, and full of character.

Domaine de Fontenille —
Pouilly-Fumé from the heart of the Loire

In 1982, Patrick Maudry traded farming for viticulture — with 80 ares of Pouilly-Fumé as starting capital. Today, the family cultivates 16 hectares in the Fontenille district, right in the heart of the appellation, on clay and limestone soils that give the Sauvignon Blanc its characteristic vibrancy.

The vines are between 15 and 25 years old and are tended by hand. In the cellar, the estate uses pneumatic presses and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks—technology in service of the fruit, not as an end in itself. Since 2009, son David has been contributing his own style without diluting his father's.

The result is Pouilly-Fumés that showcase the appellation's strengths: clear citrus fruit, a mineral undertone, and lively acidity. Wines that pair equally well with Loire goat cheese, crayfish, or grilled sea bass.
