Xibal Gin 0.7L

Xibal is a micro-distilled gin from Guatemala based on sugar cane and the first gin of its kind from the country. It is distilled in copper pot stills in small batches.

Behind Xibal is Botran, known in the country primarily for rum. The jade mask and Maya symbols on the bottle refer to the origin, as do the botanicals: cardamom, orange, black pepper, lime, bay leaf, and pericon. The latter is a Central American plant that has served as a culinary herb since Maya times. The gin was awarded a gold medal at the Global Gin Masters by "The Spirits Business".

This selection of botanicals results in a profile between citrus and spice: orange and lime bring freshness, cardamom and black pepper provide warm heat, and bay leaf delivers a tart, herbal note. In a gin and tonic, an orange zest works well as a garnish, along with a few black peppercorns in the glass. It works just as well neat over ice if you want to taste the botanicals individually.
