Jechtingen-Amoltern Winegrowers' Cooperative Müller Thurgau Kabinett "Steingrube"
Jechtingen-Amoltern Winegrowers' Cooperative Müller Thurgau Kabinett "Steingrube"
A pleasing Kabinett wine from the Kaiserstuhl region – fruity, light and smooth: the Müller-Thurgau “Steingrube” makes no grand promises, but delivers on its promises.
The Jechtingen-Amoltern winegrowers' cooperative cultivates vineyards on the Kaiserstuhl, one of Germany's warmest wine-growing regions. The volcanic loess soil of the "Steingrube" vineyard gives the Müller-Thurgau a soft, minerally underpinned base. As a Kabinett, the wine has a classically low alcohol content and a subtle residual sweetness – typical for the style of this Prädikat wine category.
In the glass, it displays aromas of white peach, pollen, and a hint of nutmeg – the typical characteristics of Müller-Thurgau. The palate is light, the acidity mild, the sweetness restrained. Not a complex profile, but a clean, easy-drinking wine without any harshness.
- Temperature: 8–10 °C
- Pairs well with: Asian cuisine with mild spice, fruit salad, soft cheese, or as a simple aperitif.
- Drinking window: Now until 2026 – drink young, take advantage of freshness
Jechtingen-Amoltern Winegrowers' Cooperative
Do you know that feeling when volcanic rock and sunshine embrace? That's exactly what happens at the Kaiserstuhl, home to the Jechtingen wine manufactory . Founded in 1924 by 30 winegrowers, it is now a community of 340 winegrowing families cultivating 240 hectares of vineyards [citation:1][citation:5].
What makes it special: The vineyards lie on black volcanic rock and loess soils – this gives the Burgundies their power and elegance [citation:2]. Their trademark is the romantic Sponeck Castle , the over 700-year-old ruin that towers above the vines [citation:3].
