Behind Whitley Neill is Johnny Neill, scion of a distilling family in the fourth generation. The Rhubarb & Ginger Gin is produced by Halewood and picks up on two ingredients that are firmly anchored in British cuisine: rhubarb in crumble and compote, ginger in pastries and ginger beer.

In the glass, the slightly tart freshness of the rhubarb meets the spiciness of the ginger. The character remains soft, the juniper provides the framework.

Recommendation: Tonic or ginger beer over plenty of ice, plus a lemon zest or a thin slice of fresh ginger. It can also be drunk neat on ice. In a cocktail, it fits into a Gin Fizz or a Sour.
