Weissburgunder GG

A Pinot Blanc from Saxony – this is not a matter of course, but a clear statement: mineral, precise, with the backbone provided by the northern climate and the loess soils of the Elbe.

Schloss Proschwitz near Meißen is one of the oldest wineries in Saxony, painstakingly rebuilt after reunification and today one of the most reliable names in the German East. The Grosses Gewächs comes from the estate's best sites – vinified dry, with the ambition to reflect its origin in the glass.

In the glass, the 2022 shows notes of ripe apricot and yellow peach, underscored by a fresh core of citrus zest and white peach. Dense on the palate, but without heaviness – the acidity keeps the wine taut, the finish long and slightly mineral. No wood in the way, no superfluous weight.

Serving recommendation: Good at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with veal medallions with herb sauce, sole, or an aged mountain cheese.
